Christmas is the Time
Today we had a very special Penny Day Offering! Special Penny Day today at St. James Episcopal School!!! Our teachers and staff got a big surprise today when students started bringing in money for our Penny Day. The P.I.E. Committee thought it would be fun to surprise the staff this year by doing a surprise Christmas bonus with today’s Penny Day. It was fantastic! Everyone was so excited and felt very loved by our wonderful parents and students. The grand total came to $2,735.00!!!
The good news of Advent is that if we wait, while we wait, in the waiting, God comes.
The word Advent means “coming.” It is a time to slow down, be quiet and meditate about the real meaning of Christmas. The weeks before Christmas are a time to prepare our hearts and our lives as we wait for the coming of Jesus. We focus on the promise that God made to his people and how that promise was fulfilled in Jesus. Advent is also the beginning of the liturgical year. The season begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas and ends on the day before Christmas. It may be a time for new beginning for us as Christians. (From the Episcopal Diocese of Texas)
We hope everyone received their Advent Calendar for the season. Spending time with family and teaching our children the meaning of Christmas is such an important part of the Season of Advent. It is such a joy to be able to join with parents as we teach our students about the birth of Christ. Mrs. Miller has been teaching us all about the Season of Advent and we are all learning so much! Our chapel lessons have now transitioned from the Old Testament into the New Testament as we begin the Season of Advent. It is a wonderful time of year!

A Prayer to Remember
What Christmas is All About
Lord, I thank You for coming to earth so You could redeem me. When I think of the extent to which You were willing to go in order to save me, it makes me want to shout, to celebrate, and to cry with thankfulness. You love me so much, and I am so grateful for that love. Without You, I would still be lost and in sin. But because of everything You have done for me, today I am free; my life is blessed; Jesus is my Lord; Heaven is my home; and Satan has no right to control me. I will be eternally thankful to You for everything You did to save me! I pray this in Jesus' name!
