FOR THE SAFETY OF EVERYONE AT SJES, ALL ENTRANCES ARE LOCKED EXCEPT FOR THE FRONT DOOR BY THE SCHOOL OFFICE DURING OPERATING HOURS. AS ADDED SECURITY, THE INTERIOR SECURITY DOOR MAY ONLY BE UNLOCKED BY THE ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF FOR APPROVED VISITORS.
Campers who leave prior to the end of the day MUST be signed out through the school office by a parent or approved pick up person. An office staff member will call your camper to the office. For safety reasons, parents/guardians are not allowed to take their camper directly from a classroom. Please notify the office in advance if you know you will be picking your child up early and we will have them ready for you. A parent or guardian must give the school written permission or call the school office for anyone other than those listed on the registration form to take a child from camp. If the camper will be returning after being picked up, the camper must be signed back in at the office prior to returning to their classroom.
VISITORS TO CAMP
All visitors to SJES Summer Camp, including parents, are required to sign in at the office before they will be allowed through the double doors or into the Chapel. This policy is for the safety of all the campers and will help the administrative staff keep track of persons on the campus in case of any emergency. Parents/visitors will only be allowed into the building if they have signed up to be a guest speaker for a camp presentation, and have completed the Safeguarding God’s Children course prior to volunteering.
Any individual picking up a camper or campers not known to camp staff, will be asked for identification. We will not release a child to anyone who is not listed on the camp pick up list. Please contact the office if your child will be picked up by anyone other than their parents, grandparents, authorized pick up person(s), or pre arranged carpool. If your student is going home with another SJES camper, please contact the school prior to pick up so the loading staff can be notified to minimize delays during pick up. If someone unknown to the SJES Summer Camp staff will be picking up your child, the St. James staff must know in advance who that person is. The person must present a picture ID to pick up the camper.
Campers will be under the supervision of camp personnel during operating hours as well as during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal. Personnel supervising our campers are certificated employees, or other certified volunteers. No camper will be left alone in a classroom, on the playground, in Chapel or in any other location utilized by the summer camp staff as per policies set forth by the Diocese of West Texas.
SAFEGUARDING GOD'S CHILDREN
All camp administration, staff members, and volunteers (faculty/parents) must have taken the “Safeguarding God’s Children” training as required by The Episcopal Diocese of West Texas. Volunteers are considered any person or persons who are left alone and working closely with the students for extended periods of time during the day. A complete record of authorized personnel and volunteers are kept in the school business office and updated frequently.
